Following strong and widely praised releases from two other emerging t…

Following strong and widely praised releases from two other emerging talents, BNJMN and Nightwave, Svetlana is proud to present the debut recording from Hungarian producer Polyklinik.

Budapest native Matyas Lendvai is an elusive character. He doesn’t turn up for photo shoots, he amasses analogue synths and drum machines, he only likes to meet in public places, and he’s one of the most organic music makers you’ll come across.

Svetlana first hooked up with him up back in 2008, while searching the Balkans for fellow dubstep discoverers. Back then he was making quite a unique brand of dubstep, melodic and synthy, and optimistic sounding compared to all the dark stuff that was about at the time. That was to change. Over three years his sound transformed into a gloopy, glitchy, murky something that isn’t much like anything else. His tempos are drawn from hip hop and the beats scene, but the sound is far away from chopped up vocals and jazzy beats born in Californian sunshine. This is intense, soupy stuff, music from a country mired in financial crisis, Prime Ministerial lies and toxic red sludge.

The tunes are largely improvised: standout track Vermona was born of a jam on a 1970s drum machine Matyas stole from his girlfriend’s father, then recorded, distorted and “Africanised”. It’s this kind of approach that means, in a world where music becomes rapidly generic, Polyklinik doesn’t really sound like anyone else. This makes him hard to write about but good to listen to, and that’s the main thing, after all.

This EP tries to represent both sides of Polyklinik, pre and post transformation. The heavyweight gritty mastering comes from Tirk Records artist Architeq assisted by Thunderloops, who laboured hard on a vintage Studer desk. The tangled artwork comes from Hungarian blogger and scene maintainer Hargi Csik. Both contributed hugely to the post-millennial weight.

The subject of prolonged rumour and intense speculation, Inhale Gold a…

The subject of prolonged rumour and intense speculation, Inhale Gold and The Vinyl Factory are proud to present Massive Attack’s long awaited collaboration with Burial, Four Walls / Paradise Circus.

These new Burial mixes of previously unreleased Massive Attack track ‘Four Walls’ and Heligoland favourite ‘Paradise Circus’ are available exclusively as limited vinyl edition of only 1000 copies worldwide.

Pressed on heavyweight 180g 12” vinyl housed in a stunning, hand numbered, gold glitter screen-printed sleeve designed by Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja (3D), this edition has been crafted by The Vinyl Factory, and is sure to become a highly coveted collectors item.

As you’d expect from these two acts these are no ordinary remixes andBurial has completely rebuilt both tracks in his own unique styleproviding a masterclass in production. You can hear ‘Four Walls’ above.

At around 12 minutes each, both ‘Four Walls’ and ‘Paradise Circus’ have been given the time and space to evolve and develop going way beyond the scope of normal remixes, with the end result two highly original, in every sense of the word, pieces of music.

Pre-order it here.

For their 2nd release Donky Pitch turn to Barcelona’s Niño for an EP soaked in melody, bass, funk and those kind of synthlines that make them Donkys go weak at the knees. Across his five tracks you will find shuddering beats and bass lines, explosions of synth filled colour, tinges of R&B, a small helping of boogie and flecks of funk that when combined sound like he has squeezed the famous Spanish sunshine straight through his Micro Korg and onto this here record.

Having featured on numerous releases from Dødpop Records, alongside releases on Galleta, Niñohas been steadily building himself a reputation as Spain’s premier exponent of the synth funk sound known by many as Skweee. But as you will hear, Niño’s sound goes far beyond this simple genre tag.

Remixes come from Big Dada’s synth crunk don Offshore, DC recordings / Black Acre’s Kelpe, who flips Innsmouth perfectly to a skittering house tempo, and upcoming Dutch producer KRSUR.

Brotto was raised in the Midlands but is currently living and studying in Brighton. On hisearly influences and first steps into production he says:

“I’ve always played about with sound ever since I was little and I started collecting old Casiotone Synthesisers and cheap music programs and the more I earned money, themore equipment I bought and taught myself.
Equipment wise Brotto works on a Macbook pro and an Imac with Logic Express, a coupleof Krk rp5’s and a midi keyboard. A Soundcraft Notepad and soundcard for recordingexternal instruments and the Vestax turntable and mixer.
The debut EP came about after some very strong early demos on soundcloud werepicked up by teaandcakerecords. Brotto created 3 brand new tracks which he describesas “sound experiments more than anything else”.
Early support for the EP has from Charlie Dark (Blacktronica), BNJMN (Rush Hour), and PieceOfShh.. (Svetlana Industries) who have all praised Brotto’s production andcompositions and were a little shocked at how well the tracks are put together for a debutrelease believing it to have been the work of much more established names.
And to complete the hattrick of firsts – the debut release by Brotto on teacakerecords 001 -on remix duties is the first released work by Brickwall Brigade better known as Svetlana Industries’ Piece Of Shh and Jan Nemeček of Kalope from Belgrade, Serbia.
With more productions and work as an artist to come, Brotto is clearly a man full ofcreativity who deserves to be regarded as a true pioneer of new sounds.

A Side : A huge and abstract debut track from young Sydney beat artist Jen…

A Side : A huge and abstract debut track from young Sydney beat artist JensenBrewster titled “My Best Friend’s Wedding”. This track is an absolute windup-belter that illustrates Jensen’s large, abstract and melodic style.

B Side : A heavy wonked out remix from TFL label boss Monk Fly. This remixwas put off for a while as Monk Fly said he just loved the original and could notthink of how it could be improved or altered. Nevertheless, he has comethrough with a remix that does justice to the original and adds a little extraoff-kilter lope. Both the A and B sides of this release have been rigorously tested on the dancefloor of Sydney’s future beat parties and have been received with muchwhooping and hands in the air….

TRACK LISTING :

1. My Best Friend’s Wedding

2. My Best Friend’s Wedding(Monk Fly remix)

AVAILABILITY :

Available digitally from onlinestores such as iTunes, Boomkat, Addictech, Juno and Emusic. Also available direct from TheFrequency Lab’s online bandcamp store.
