Teebs & Jackhigh – The Tropics EP
![]()
The Tropics EP is something quite different and something quite special. The seven track mini album is the product of an 18 month collaboration between LA based beatmaker Teebs and UK producer Jackhigh, and is already attracting serious praise.
Back in the day, London based Jackhigh had already been featured as 17 year old on the genre-defining Beatnicks EPs from Up My Alley label and started to get involved in collaborations, producing remixes and so on, while an equally young Teebs found himself living in LA with Flying Lotus and Samiyam for flatmates. As Teebs remembers it, Jackhigh put a snippet of a tune he liked on Myspace and Teebs asked him to send it over. “I flipped it, sent it back. He added strings, sent it back to me again. I flipped it again” And so it continued, in a slow organic way, loops becoming processed and degraded and altered and added to, and tracks slowly emerging.
Over time a total of seven tunes emerged. These tracks were produced in a unique way: they never existed as arrangements laid out in software on someone’s computer, only as a single stereo file, passed to and fro, and endlessly worked and tweaked and eroded.
Still early into 2010 The Tropics EP is a very different record and a sign of things to come: fresh, organic, mature, holistic, unified, and totally next level.

Outlook Festival 2010
![]()
Living up to its reputation as the largest Dubstep and soundsystem culture festival in Europe The Outlook Festival has announced several heavyweight additions to the lineup including Skream, Rodney P & Skitz, Zinc, Roska, Oris Jay, Man Like Me and The Ragga Twins.
Hailed by Time Out as a “seriously heavyweight minifest,” Outlook transports the most cutting edge music from urban Britain to the gorgeous Croatian coast bringing with the biggest names in the game along for the ride.
Now in its third year, Outlook has found a new bigger home at Punta Christo, an abandoned eighteenth century fort situated across the bay from the town of Pula. Nestled within a lush pine forest, it’s the perfect location for day time parties on the beach, out at sea and when the sun sets all night dancing under the stars.
Said Simon Scott, Outlook Director, “We don’t know how we’ve managed it but we’ve made the line up even more amazing. Adding the likes of Skream and The Ragga Twins will ensure Outlook goes down as the hottest European festival this year.”
If September feels just too far away, don’t despair as the Outlook crew will be traveling the length and breadth of the country to get you into the festival mood.
There may be no Croatian sunshine or sea kissed beaches but there are plenty of A-list DJs and producers showcasing the very best of Dubstep, Roots Soul, Dancehall, Reggae, Drum and Bass, Hiphop and Future Beats.
Lighting up the decks will be the likes of Plastician, Wachs Lyrical, Iration Steppas and Congo Natty as the Outlook Club Tour rolls in to a number of cities including Bournemouth, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Sheffield, Bristol and Liverpool, before finishing the tour in Brighton on the South coast.
